Mosquitos

It is August in Wisconsin!  What beautiful weather.  It was so calm and peaceful this morning as I sat outside enjoying my yard and my coffee.  As I was writing this, I noticed that I didn't have any mosquitos!  That is a change and unusual for this season.  Then I remembered I put out my mosquito balls  earlier this week.   I saw them swarming, but they were not coming close to me.

It is a mixture of witch hazel, water, peppermint essential oil (keeps all sorts of bugs away) and lemongrass essential oils. I soaked pom poms in this mixture and placed them around my doorways and patios.  My dogs even leave them alone.

You can also put this mixture in a spray bottle and spray it around.  It keeps mosquitos, ants, and other bugs away.  However, do not use lemongrass around young children, it is not safe to ingest or use topically on children under the age of 2.

Just so you know, the FDA andConsumer Reports do not suggest this way of keeping mosquitos away because it doesn't contain DEET.  I stay away from DEET and have found that this is the way to keep those pesky bugs away from me.

A good and safe make up remover.

I had a great experience last weekend.  I was able to help out with the 48 hour film festival.  Not only did I have fun, but I had an experience I have never done before.  However, my hair and face paid the price.  I had professional hair and make up done.  I had glitter thrown in my hair.  It looked great for my role, getting home and cleaning up was a completely different story. 

I want to share with you how I was able to get all that stage make up off safely and effectively. I used my relaxing coconut oil lotion on my eyes and face and was able to get all the make up off and leaving my face soft.  There are no artificial or chemicals added to my lotion.  

As you can see from the pictures below, before I had A LOT of make up on and it was applied to not come off in the heat and rain.  So, it was really stuck on.  The after is after a little bit of lotion.  No stinging in my eyes.  Just a dab of lotion and aha!  Plus, my face is super soft. 

Healthy Living

I have lived both healthy and un healthy.  I am much better and happier when I am living healthy.  Taking a look at what I eat, exercise, chemicals used and vitamins I use. 

I love to cook.  I have seen that cooking healthy not only is better for me, but is cheaper than not eating healthy.  It takes just a little more planning and prep work, but it makes me feel better and it will help you too.  Recipes will be included.

I always thought exercise was hard and unnecessary.  How wrong was I?  Extremely.   I had to find a fun exercise.  That will all be discussed too.

Chemicals are in everything!  I found ways to reduce the chemicals in my life.  I will discuss ways to carry that out.

Vitamins and supplements are necessary.  I will discuss what each one is good for and what they are needed.
